A Foodie's Delight on Maui - Wailea's Restaurant Week

Bill, Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

One of the best things about working in the Wailea destination on Maui is the variety of great restaurants. All this week, thirteen of the very best, including our very own Mala Wailea, have joined together to benefit the Maui Food Bank with an extraordinary dining event, called Restaurant Week Wailea.

For this entire week ending Saturday May 30, guests can enjoy a three-course prix fixe dinner for either $29 or $39 per person which varies by restaurant, and $1 for every dinner will be collected for this good cause.

This idea for Restaurant Week Wailea came to me during Marriott’s Spirit of Aloha promotional tour earlier this year. When visiting Southern California, we shared the aloha spirit with consumers, travel agents and media in an effort to entice travel to our islands. My mother in-law lives in Huntington Beach and I wanted to take her out to dinner. She told me about a dining event called Newport Beach Restaurant Week. I was so inspired that when I returned to Maui, I contacted my fellow general managers at the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons, who were both excited about doing a similar event here.

Mahalo to the participating Maui hotels, restaurants, the Wailea Resort Association and Kathy Costello for making it all possible! I had the pleasure of dining at Matteo’s this week and I hope you’ll stop by if you’re on Maui this weekend.
