Jazz Under the Wailea Stars

Brian, Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

The sweet sounds of a soothing saxophone, the trill of a trumpet, and the beat of a drum took the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa back in time to the Big Band era with a benefit jazz concert under the stars.

The Blue Note Swing Orchestra of Citrus College of Glendora, CA hit the stage, under  the direction of Robert Flack, Dean of Fine & Performing Arts. Made up of talented students, the critically acclaimed musical ensemble performs in jazz festivals around the world and returns to Maui every summer.

This was their first time performing at our Maui hotel resort and their concert benefited the Kapiolani Children’s Miracle Network, a charity that is close to our hearts. Our General Manager Bill Countryman was even interviewed by Maui TV News.

Along with the benefit concert, Citrus College brought other musical acts for pop and rock performances at Kumu’s Grill and Mala Wailea Lounge. Our guests and associates left singing the praises of these talented students and we thank Robert for joining us here.
