Countdown to Spirit of Aloha Tour in Japan with Konishiki

Pattie, Marriott Resorts Hawaii

Our successful Spirit of Aloha Tour will soon be hitting the streets of Japan in October and we’re excited that retired sumotori champion Konishiki will be joining us!

Konishiki

Hawaii-born Konishiki rose to fame  as a professional sumo wrestler between 1982 and 1997, when he retired holding the second highest rank of “ozeki” in Japan’s national’s sport. He is now a recording music artist and Japanese variety TV show host. He also founded the Konishiki Kids Foundation, a non-profit organization designed to help broaden the horizons of the children living on Oahu’s Leeward Coast where he grew up as a child.

With Konishiki as our Spirit of Aloha Tour goodwill ambassador, we will visit three key Japanese cities — Nagoya and Osaka from October 2-4 and Tokyo October 4-8. The Japan tour will visit travel agents and tour wholesale suppliers, and make public and media appearances. A specially designed luxury tour bus called “Dream Cruiser Luxury Bus” will ensure we travel in style on this seven-day campaign.

Joining Konishiki will be Ed Hubennette, vice president for North Asia, Hawaii and South Pacific, Marriott International, as well as the Hawaii resort general managers and the area director of sales & marketing for Far East. We’re also utilizing the talented performers of the Polynesian Cultural Center who were amazing in our original U.S. mainland tour and will really bring the sights and sounds of Hawaii to life!

Thank you to our sponsors Japan Airlines, Polynesian Cultural Center, Hawaiian Airlines and Hawaii Tourism Japan! Stay here for more updates as the tour gets rolling through Japan!
