An Outstanding Ambassador of Aloha

Jean, Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

We all know him as “Buster.” His signature “ALOOOOOOOHA!” to guests and associates throughout the day, mega-watt smile and innate compassion for others resonate throughout our resort. He’s Edmund Civerolo, bell desk, and we’re so proud of his recent recognition as Outstanding Lodging Employee of the Year by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA).

Here's Buster (left) being recognized by AH&LA Chairman Joe Martin (right).

Buster received the award based on his positive demeanor, team spirit, personal attention given to each guest, and commitment to giving back to the community during the annual Stars of the Industry luncheon on June 24th during the AH&LA Summer Summit in Chicago, Illinois.

Buster on receiving the award… “I’m still NUMB… I want to mention everyone’s name, but it’s all the associates I work with… the list would be endless!”

In his free time, he can be found surfing outside Waikiki Beach or running the annual Honolulu Marathon with return guests and fellow associates, as well as volunteering at our many Spirit to Serve community service events.

On the weekends, he and fellow associates often participate in beach clean-ups.

Here are a few of Buster’s local island favorites:

Restaurant: Gina’s BBQ – “I go to eat there at Market City Shopping Center at least twice a month. It’s my favorite Korean BBQ restaurant!”

Hawaii Attraction: Diamond Head Crater – “Every guest has to hike up Diamond Head for its breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. On a clear day you can see the islands of Maui and Molokai.”

Surf Spot: Waikiki and the North Shore – “On the way back from the North Shore we stop at Matsumoto Shave Ice. It’s funny… I’m from the Big Island and there we call it ICE SHAVE!”

Congratulations Buster!
