A 40-year Love Affair with Maui

Kiyo, Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

The island of Maui is a favorite vacation spot for many, even receiving top honors by Conde Nast Traveler as the “Best Pacific Island” in its 2008 Reader’s Choice Awards. Perhaps the biggest Maui fan is Ms. Betty Biltgen of Sun City, AZ. Every year for the past 40 years, Betty has visited our island, spending the past 30 years as a guest at our Maui hotel, and continues to return twice a year for five to six weeks at a time.

Why does Betty love Maui and Wailea? She says, “It’s hard to explain, you have to go and find out for yourself!” She reveals it is the people that she has really enjoyed. “I love the people who work at this hotel. They make me feel safe and I’m treated like a queen.” Betty knows just about every Wailea Beach Marriott associate — she even has her own name tag and reserved seating plaque at the Kumu Bar & Grill poolside restaurant!

It is guests like Betty who make our days brighter! She is a big part of the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa ‘ohana!

Fresh pineapples, mangos and strawberries, may not be native to the islands, but are commonly grown to a lush flavor as a result of the clash of cultures that made their way to the islands. Imagine yourself poolside at any of the hawaiian hotels while noshing on fresh mangos plucked from the tree.
