How "Tweet" It Is at Waikiki Tweetup

Drew, Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

We held our first official @MarriottHawaii “tweetup” (meet-up for Twitterers) last night at @MarriottWaikiki (Waikiki Beach Marriott) to celebrate the launch of our “Tweet Yourself to Hawaii” sweepstakes.

A crowd of approximate 75 people, including 36 of Hawaii’s best Twitterers, joined us for the pau hana (after work) event, held at the Moana Terrace overlooking Waikiki Beach.

We were able to show off our beautiful contest web site and our Marriott team got to meet these Twitterers IRL (in real life).

We offered delicious food and drinks, including the “TWEET-ini,” a raspberry flavored cocktail named just for this event. We also gave away stickers and magnets with our Twitter-inspired bird.

And we enjoyed listening to the sounds of Butch Baduria who often performs at Moana Terrace.

Every Twitterer got entered to win one of three great prizes — two-night stays at Waikiki Beach Marriott, Waikoloa Beach Marriott and JW Marriott Ihilani.

Congratulations to @ChrisHall78 who got the Waikiki prize, @VBrown who got the Waikoloa prize and @Melissa808 who will be visiting Ihilani soon!

The party continued and we were even witnesses to a non-Twitter-related marriage proposal! The couple arrived that day from New Jersey and the gentleman had been in talks with Waikiki Beach Marriott about this big moment! It was great to see such a happy occasion!

Mahalo to all for coming out to our first  “tweetup” and for supporting our contest!

Thanks to Lori Lum of StarrTech Interactive for providing the images!

Special Recipe for the Newlyweds’ Getaway: Hawaii, Hotels, Honeymoon

The bride’s dress has been bustled and the groom’s tie has been unfurled. The new couple is thinking three words: Hawaii, Hotels, Honeymoon. A bit of badly needed privacy and R&R, it will be time for the newly weds to escape to a tropical destination. The trip should be refreshing, relaxing, and tailored to the newlyweds. Shave ice, waterfalls, tropical birds, sun tan lotion, and strolls on the moonlit beach are just what the event planner ordered. When in Hawaii, choosing the right hotel to unwind are some of the ingredients required in the honeymoon recipe.
