Kauai Marriott Resort Receives 2010 Outstanding Mental Health Business Leader Award

Mental Health America of Hawaii (MHAH) recognized Kauai Marriott Resort with the 2010 Outstanding Mental Health Business Leader Award for being the first hotel in Hawaii in 1996 to hire clubhouse members. At the 5th Annual Mental Health Mahalo Awards Luncheon, Chuck Brady, market director for human resources for Marriott & Ritz Carlton Club on Kauai is with Marya Grambs, executive director for MHAH, and David Jordan, clubhouse director of Friendship House Kauai.

Mental Health Award

A clubhouse is a unique, voluntary, member-driven psychosocial rehabilitation program for adults who experience the challenges of mental illness. Within a supportive environment, program participants (members) are offered a multitude of services to improve the quality of their lives through meaningful work, positive relationships, and gainful employment. Members can build on their strengths and abilities to acquire or improve skills needed to reach their individual goals and aspirations.
