Family Fun at Lahaina Plantation Days

Bill, Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

Lahaina town is steeped with history, and one of Maui's true gems. This Friday and Saturday, we hope our visitors and kama'aina alike will join us in celebrating the 2nd Annual Lahaina Plantation Days, a great family event that honors the thousands of people who worked for the old Pioneer Mill that closed its doors in 1999 after its 139-year tenure! Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa is pleased to support this event and the great work that the Lahaina Restoration Foundation continues to do in preserving and protecting Lahaina's historic character.

Lahaina Plantation Days

There will be ‘ono (delicious) cuisine from many of Lahaina's restaurants, live entertainment, children's activities, educational displays of Pioneer Mill and videos of the last sugar harvest, a Chinese cultural area, a Filipino cultural area, and more! A grand ceremony will unveil the restored smokestack, which includes an engraved brick walkway with bricks purchased by community members. On Friday, October 22nd, the event will be from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Saturday, October 23rd, it will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Daily admission is $3, and children five years and younger are free!

Lahaina Plantation Days

What many may not know is that Lahaina was once the home of Hawaiian monarch King Kamehameha III. Later, it became a whaling town, then had a strong missionary presence. Oil was then discovered and soon after the Pioneer Mill was established, transforming Lahaina into a sugar plantation town where immigrants from around the world came to work and live. We hope to see you there!
