Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa "Angel" associates granted nearly 75 holiday wishes for Hawaii's children and senior citizens in need through The Salvation Army's annual Angel Tree program. Gifts were creative and fun, ranging from a long list of sleeping bags and camping gear, to a remote control truck and a bird feeder. Baby dolls, rice cookers and school supplies were also in high wish-demand.
Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa associates successfully completed a friendly weight loss competition and battled the bulge in a fun and healthy way! During the 12-week "Battle of the Bulge" program, 55 participating associates lost a total combined weight of 516.7 lbs.! Here is first place winner Glenn Mitsuda from the Bell Department who lost 24.1% body fat, second place winner Darlene Keeno in Accounting who lost 15.12% body fat, and third place winner Ofelia Astrero from Housekeeping who lost 14.96% body fat!
Hawaii's people are so very different than anyone else in the world. To encapsulate what "aloha" means to Hawaii, I along with co-author Barbara Santos compiled and edited a new book called "Practice Aloha: Secrets to Living Life Hawaiian Style" to describe just that.
We're getting ready to move that bus again, as Marriott Resorts Hawaii gears up for another Spirit of Aloha Tour in 2011. We'll be taking our traveling luau on the road, visiting 11 cities over four weeks. We'll start on January 17 in Los Angeles and journey for more than 5,300 miles, ending in Houston on February 11.
