Hawaii's people are so very different than anyone else in the world. To encapsulate what "aloha" means to Hawaii, I along with co-author Barbara Santos compiled and edited a new book called "Practice Aloha: Secrets to Living Life Hawaiian Style" to describe just that.

In the book, I referenced the way in which many of my friends, including Mick Fleetwood, Alice Cooper, Helen Hunt, Dick Donner, our new Governor Neil Abercrombie, Dr. Wayne Dyer, local musicians the Cazimero Brothers, Cecilio and Kapono, and more practice aloha every single day of their lives. It's a positive message to share, a message of aloha!
Cindy Paulos is a contributing writer for the book and also a well-known radio personality on Maui. She just released a CD called, "Practicing Aloha," which features a number of musicians who are also featured in the book.

Chef Mark Ellman of Mala Wailea restaurant is doing several book signings in December. On Saturday, December 11 he will be at Borders in Kona on the Big Island at noon and Costco in Kona at 2:00 p.m. On Sunday, December 12 he, along with Shep Gordon, Angel Melody Bode, and Cindy Paulos will be at Barnes & Noble in Lahaina at 2:00 p.m.
Serving as a new ambassador for Marriott's 2011 Spirit of Aloha Tour, Chef Ellman will be making media and public appearances on the mainland with the tour in January. Continue to visit Marriott's Spirit of Aloha blog for more updates.
