New Hawaii Island Chef Shuttle Offers a Behind-the-Scenes Foodie Experience!

For foodies and locavores traveling to Hawaii Island, Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa's Sous Chef Jayson Kanekoa will take guests on a new "Chef Shuttle" for a true farm to table Hawaii dining experience! We hopped aboard the Chef Shuttle in February and here are some of the highlights!

Offered every first Saturday of the month with the resort's Chef Shuttle weekend package, Chef Jayson and the guests are picked up early in the morning at the resort's porte cochere where the experience begins. Chef talks story and finds out what the guests are interested in, whether it's finding the sweetest papaya or learning how bananas grow.

On this day, they went to the Hawaiian Homestead Market in Waimea.

Here's Chef on the need to support local farmers and vendors.

They chatted with Kamuela's Wow Farm on their delicious, ripe tomatoes which Chef Jayson uses at the resort's Hawaii Calls Restaurant & Lounge.

Here are some other items they found, including Hawaiian chili pepper, fresh flowers and red cabbage.

Chef and the guests shop for the freshest items tailored to the season and also the guests' interests. They then return to the resort where Chef features the produce at dinner that evening.

Here's Chef Jayson on growing up on Hawaii Island and living in Waipio Valley, approximately twenty-five minutes from Waimea.

Because of his local upbringing, Chef is a valuable resource for all our guests! He's a local favorite who recently took first place in The Great Waikoloa Poke Contest.
