Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa associates from the front office and engineering ‘ohana showed their Spirit to Serve others by helping senior citizens in need. Sixteen associates donated their time and energy to give back to the community through Lanakila Pacific's Meals on Wheels program.

In appreciation of our military servicemen and women, Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa continues its participation in Operation Appreciation, a program created by Master Hairstylist, Educator and Businessman Paul Brown that acknowledges select members of the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, National Guard and their families each month with a weekend of well-deserved pampering. On November 10, Waikiki Beach Marriott General Manager Michael Nisky attended the award ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, in which Navy Petty Officer First Class Tanya Simpson was named the November winner!

Queen Liliʻuokalani Students Gain Experience in Hospitality

In our eleventh year in partnership with the Queen Liliʻuokalani Childrenʻs Center (QLCC), along with our sister property, Marriottʻs Ko Olina Beach Club, JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa hosted six high school and first-year college students for a six-week internship. This year, Kimo, Kristin, Kawelo, Kulia, Chardeʻ and Kaili had an awesome experience working in Front Office, Ihilani Spa, Naupaka Terrace, Recreation Housekeeping, and Engineering/Landscaping!

New Record Set in Funds Raised for Maui Charities

The Annual Maui Hotel & Lodging Association Charity Walk sets a new record of raising $475,101.00 for a variety of Maui Charities. Bill Countryman, Cluster General Manager for the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, was the chairman this year for the big event. Wailea Marriott raised in excess of $14,000 for one hotel alone.

Exceeding A Goal Plus Placing First in a Food Contest for Charity!

The associates at Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa contributed in raising funds for the Hawaii Hotel & Lodging Association’s statewide 33rd Annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk by conducting dessert bento and baked goods sales, as well as a silent auction. This year the hotel set their goal to raise $7,000 but surpassed it by raising more than $8,300!

Helping Hawaii Foodbank Collect One Million Meals!

Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa associates raised $8,150 and donated 3,062 pounds of food to the 22nd Annual Food Drive, a benefit for the Hawaii Foodbank, on April 16, 2011. They successfully exceeded the resort’s monetary goal by 14 percent and food donation goal by 12 percent.

More Than a $5,000 Gift

Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa associates continue their "Spirit to Serve" by creating unique ways to raise funds and collaborating to help Hawaii Island communities. Kelly Alonzo and Lanakila Graves often spearhead the resort's fundraising efforts, and this time is no exception! In February, the resort's associates donated $5,000 to Hawaii Island United Way CPO Darla DeVille. And in doing so, the teamwork and camaraderie instilled during the process is what made giving back even more worthwhile.
