Last week wrapped up with our group watching the Super Bowl at Elway’s Restaurant in Denver. We had a great turn out from our customers in Denver but literally as soon as the final whistle blew (and the Packers won) we boarded the bus and were on the way to Dallas. After a stop in Amarillo, Texas we pulled into Dallas Monday night.
In the most ironic twist of the trip, Dallas was the coldest place we visited the entire tour. We spent time in Montana, Chicago, Omaha and Denver and the coldest stop was in Dallas. The temperature read a chilly 12 degrees on Wednesday morning. The roads were the iciest we had seen in the country but once again, Leon was able to get us to our final stop, Houston, with no issues.
Today marks the final day of Marriott's 2011 Spirit of Aloha Tour! We had a wonderful visit full of Hawaiian music, hula lessons, lei-making and ukulele lessons with the children and families at Texas Children's in Houston! KHOU-TV Anchor Lucy Noland came to the hospital as well and spent time with us!
While in Dallas, Kauai Marriott Resort on Kalapaki Beach's Brad Snyder, Cheryl Ben Brady and Sally Halm, and Marriott Resorts Hawaii's Alex Moxey visited partners Travelocity and Hotels.com.
On Tuesday Marriott's Spirit of Aloha Tour visited with the children and families at Children's Medical Center in Dallas! The children had a wonderful time making lei, learning to hula and doing puzzles. Here's 11-year-old Ali making a paper flower lei.
On Tuesday we brought the spirit of aloha to Good Morning Texas in Dallas! Bringing the warmth of Hawaii to the WFAA studio was perfect timing as Dallas is expecting brief snowstorms late Tuesday evening. Brad Snyder, area general manager of Kauai Marriott Resort on Kalapaki Beach, chatted with Rue Ann Adamson of Funjet Vacations and Good Morning Texas Co-host Amy Vandereof about the Tour and urged viewers to visit Hawaii. We started this week in Chicago, had a stop in Omaha and finished the week in Denver. It was another great week to be spreading the aloha because we finally hit some good solid winter weather… and when there is snow on the ground, spreading the spirit of aloha becomes that much easier to do. But, as much fun as it was to share the warmth of Hawaii with the freezing mainland, it did not come without some ordeals.
On Saturday in Denver we planned a special Ohana Day - a day to celebrate with our customers and their families! Marriott's Dan Banchiu, Peter Thoene, Elizabeth Linn, Asha Wignarajah, and Brian Soma had fun spending time with everyone, including Doug and Dana of PPI, Sharon and Michelle of TPG, Michelle of Pro-Group, Jane of TW Telecom, and Traci of Marriott International.
While in Denver, our Spirit of Aloha Tour teams had several meetings with partners and clients. Marriott Hawaii's Brian Soma, Elizabeth Linn, Asha Wignarajah, and Peter Thoene had a sales call with the USA Olympic Swim Team.
