Unleash the Dragon!

Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa ushered in the 2012 Chinese New Year, the Year of the Dragon! This year we were able to share the traditional dragon dance in which it is believed that the loud beats of the drum and deafening sounds of the cymbals together with the face of the dragon or lion dancing aggressively can evict bad or evil spirits.

Mahalo to our Military!

In appreciation of our military servicemen and women, Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa continues its participation in Operation Appreciation, a program created by Master Hairstylist, Educator and Businessman Paul Brown that acknowledges select members of the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, National Guard and their families each month with a weekend of well-deserved pampering. On November 10, Waikiki Beach Marriott General Manager Michael Nisky attended the award ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, in which Navy Petty Officer First Class Tanya Simpson was named the November winner!

After spending two nights at JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa, President Barack Obama departed this morning from the resort hotel to continue his travel to Australia and Indonesia. President Obama was in Hawaii from November 11 to 14, 2011 to conduct the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

Whale Season Gets Off to an Early Start

Every year, between November and May, we have the privilege of seeing humpback whales in the waters off Hawai‘i. It's always a treat to watch these magnificent creatures frolic in our warm Hawaiian water. They especially love spending their winters off Hawai‘i Island's West coast, where our resort is located.

The new 3,000 square-foot Fitness Center at Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa officially opened with a traditional Hawaiian blessing conducted by Hawaiian culturalist Waianu.
