USA Youth Swim Team Wins 46 Medals on Maui!

Faces were aglow at Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, where the United States Youth Swim Team stayed during the Junior Pan Pacific Championships held from August 26-30 at the Kihei Aquatic Center. The open-water 10K was held right next to the resort and it was definitely a sight to see! Ranging from 14 to 18 years of age, Team USA won 46 medals, beating out all the other teams. The competition was fierce, featuring the top national Youth Teams including Canada, Australia and Japan.

Waikiki Beach Marriott Associates Get Healthy and Battle the Bulge!

To help jump start a healthier lifestyle for all our associates, Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa introduced the "Battle of the Bulge" friendly weight loss competition. The 12-week program began with a kick-off meeting including health and wellness tips by Queen's Medical Center Manager of Health and Wellness Morgan Boyle on August 17th, and the first official weigh-in held the following day. The first wellness activity was called, "Hike with Mike," where General Manager Mike Nisky took the associates and his sons Leland and Dylan on a scenic Diamond Head hike.

New "Te Au Moana" Luau at Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

It's a new celebration of the island of Maui here at the oceanfront Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, where the "Te Au Moana" luau show now entertains guests and kama'aina alike. With its talented musicians and performers, the renowned Tihati Productions offers a spectacular display of Polynesian entertainment and cultural activities at the resort's luau grounds.

New Fia Fia Show Debuts at JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa!

It was a night of ‘ono (delicious) Hawaiian food, lively entertainment and great company on Thursday at JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina, where we unveiled the new Fia Fia Show. Held oceanfront at the resort's Lagoon Lawn with a dazzling sunset as the backdrop, Chief Sielu Avea and the Fia Fia performers brought Polynesian culture, dance and music to guests and kama‘aina (locals) alike.

Marriott Resorts Hawaii is Blitzing Through Los Angeles!

At The Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey in Los Angeles, we met with Peter Greenberg of CBS News and thanked him for taking the time to meet with Ed Fuller, president and managing director of Marriott International, International Division, Craig Smith, vice president of Asia/Pacific and Chris Tatum, vice president of North Asia, Hawaii and South Pacific. Peter literally got off the plane at LAX International to meet us.

A Walk for More Than 200 Hawaii Charities

For the past 32 years, Hawaii Hotel & Lodging Association (HHLA) has sponsored the annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk, a fundraiser held on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Molokai and the Big Island that generates money for more than 200 of Hawaii's charities. This year, Chris Tatum, area vice president of Marriott International - North Asia, Hawaii and South Pacific, was the chairman of the event which was held statewide on May 15th. Marriott's Hawaii associates across the state raised funds totaling more than $95,500 and donated nearly 900 volunteer hours of their time and dedication.

Kauai Marriott Resort on Kalapaki Beach Emerges Anew!

Spirits were high at Kauai Marriott Resort on Kalapaki Beach, where a traditional Hawaiian blessing was held Thursday to unveil the resort's new $50 million makeover. Led by Hawaiian Cultural Specialist Kehaulani Kekua, the resort's associates, partners, and community members took part in the ‘Aha Moku Ka Piko ceremony to usher in new life for the 356-room resort. The ceremony included the untying of a 20-foot maile lei by Area General Manager Brad Snyder, Resort Manager Steve Yannarell, and Director of Engineering Kirk Pierpoint.

After 12 weeks of grueling cardiovascular and weight training workouts, nutrition management, as well as true determination and discipline in making healthy choices, JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa associates Zedrik Dana and Roberta Mondirin were named the "Biggest Losers" in the resort's friendly weight-loss competition!

Aloha to Hawaii's New "Nature Man"!

"Nature Man" is finally here! Well, that is, he and 11 of his friends who won a grand vacation with Marriott's "Win a Hawaiian Trip for 12" social media contest! Joe Maziarski of New Jersey submitted "Nature Man," the winning YouTube video on why he loves Hawaii, and after rounds of voting by a panel of celebrity judges and the public, here he and his group are today! Here they are upon arrival at Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, ready for a wonderful time in paradise!
