"Volun–tourist" welcomed At Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa With A Special "Serve, Stay And Sail" Offer & Spa's Resort partners with Hawaii Superferry and Habitat for Humanity, Maui to build homes in Waiehu

 

WAILEA, MAUI, Hawaii August 7, 2008 – The newly transformed Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa is offering a special room package to "volun-tourists" wishing to help others on Maui, the opportunity to participate in the 5th Annual Habitat for Humanity Build-a-Thon on August 23, 2008. In partnership with Hawaii Superferry, as well as the resort’s own Mala Wailea Restaurant and Mandara Spa, the "Serve, Stay and Sail" package is available for one weekend only – from August 22-24, 2008.

"We look forward to joining our kama’aina guests, our associates and others at the Waiehu Kou IV project to build homes for deserving Maui families," said John Jaskula, general manager of Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. "Last year, our associates participated in the initial construction stages of this subdivision. We are excited to be returning this year and bringing neighbor island guests and visitor volunteers along with us to help support Habitat for Humanity."

Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa’s dedication and commitment to the Habitat for Humanity project is part of "Marriott’s Spirit to Serve," a corporate program designed to foster goodwill in communities where Marriott International does business.

For $239 per night, the "Serve, Stay and Sail" volun-tourism package includes:

Serve

  • 5th Annual Build-a-Thon begins at the Waiehu Kou IV Subdivision at 7:30 a.m. with a briefing, breakfast and blessing, and will end with lunch and a closing program at 1 p.m.

Stay

  • Guests will enjoy a luxuriously appointed ocean view room for two
  • A specially selected, three-course dinner for two at Chef /Owner Mark Ellman’s Mala Wailea restaurant following the event on Saturday, August 23rd
  • Breakfast buffet for two at Mala Wailea restaurant on Sunday, August 24th
  • Guests will enjoy a luxuriously appointed ocean view room for two
  • Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa will extend a late checkout for those guests returning on the 8 p.m. Hawaii Superferry back to Oahu (tickets to be presented to resort during registration to secure late checkout)
  • Complimentary self-parking at the resort

Sail

  • For 20 Oahu-based volunteers, complimentary Hawaii Superferry roundtrip voyage to/from Oahu and Maui, including a vehicle. The offer is available for the first 20 volunteers on a first-come, first-served basis who opt to purchase this package (two persons per room).

In addition to providing roundtrip voyages for volunteers on its ship, the Alakai, Hawaii Superferry is extending complimentary roundtrip voyages to its employees who want to participate in the Habitat for Humanity project.
