Honolulu, Hawaii – January 8, 2010 – After three months, hundreds of tweets and 130 video entries, Marriott Resorts Hawaii will unveil the Top 10 fan videos in its popular “Win A Trip for 12 to Hawaii” video contest. Starting Monday, January 11 through Friday, January 15, the public can log onto www.marriotthawaiitweets.com to view all 10 finalists and vote for their favorite. The video collecting the most votes will win a Hawaiian vacation for the entrant and 11 friends and/or family.
“We were very impressed by the creativity and affection for our islands shown in these videos,” said Chris Tatum, vice president of Marriott International, North Asia, Hawaii and South Pacific. “We’d like to extend our mahalo to all those who took the time and effort to make a video. We hope everyone gets a chance to watch 10 of the finest entries and vote for their favorite.”
From October to December 2009, the Marriott’s contest attracted 130 hopefuls who submitted a video that best showcased why they love Hawaii and why they deserve this amazing trip. A panel of celebrity judges – Carrie Ann Inaba, Marissa Jaret Winokur and Kristi Yamaguchi –voted on their favorites and helped narrow the field down to 10.
Beginning 9 a.m. HST (2 p.m. EST/ 11 a.m. PST) on January 11, the top 10 videos will be up for public voting at http://www.marriotthawaiitweets.com. The public can select one video per 24-hour period during the voting week. Voting will end 5 p.m. HST on January 15 2010. The entry with the highest votes will win the free Hawaiian trip for them and 11 friends/family members, including seven nights at up to two participating Marriott resorts in Hawaii of their choice and roundtrip airfare, courtesy of Hawaiian Airlines. The winner will be announced the week of January 18, 2010 by Marriott Resorts Hawaii on its Facebook page.
The tour will also visit a local Children’s Miracle Network hospital in select cities to entertain and share the aloha spirit with the children and staff. “Marriott has a long-standing partnership with the Children’s Miracle Network throughout the country and we want to show our support as we travel to these cities,” said Tatum. Along with hula performances, Marriott Resorts Hawaii will provide each Children’s Miracle Network hospital they visit with a Hawaiian vacation package for fundraising use.
