
Honolulu, Hawaii – April 13, 2010 – Rodney Ito has been appointed to area director of operations for Marriott International – North Asia, Hawaii and South Pacific. Ito will be responsible for providing operational oversight at 33 properties representing the following brands: JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts in the luxury tier; Marriott Hotels & Resorts and Renaissance Hotels & Resorts in the upscale deluxe tier; Courtyard by Marriott Hotels in the upper moderate category; and Marriott Executive Apartments for extended-stay travelers. The lodging properties are located in Hawaii, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Singapore, and Guam. Ito who will be based in Honolulu, Hawaii will report directly to Chris Tatum, area vice president for Marriott International - North Asia, Hawaii and South Pacific.
“With Rodney’s extensive background in hotel operations, I am confident that he will be a strong addition to our senior management team,” said Chris Tatum.
Ito, who has 26 years of hotel hospitality experience gathered on the U.S. Mainland and Hawaii, has been with Marriott International since 2000 when he was named general manager of Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort on Hawaii’s Big Island. Four years later, he relocated to Honolulu, Hawaii to become the director of operations at the 1,310-room Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.
Most recently, he has been general manager of the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort and Spa, a post he returned to in 2007.
Ito was born and raised in Hawaii. During his leisure time, he enjoys golf, ocean sports and family time with his three children.
