Happy 61st Birthday to the Princess Kaiulani Hotel

June 21, 2016

On June 11, 1955 conch shells were blown at exactly twelve noon to mark the grand opening of the newest hotel in Waikiki, the Princess Kaiulani.

The eleven story tower was built on Ainahau, the former estate of Princess Kaiulani and at the time was the tallest building in Waikiki.

Nearly 1,000 guests including community leaders, legislators and government officials were invited to celebrate the grand opening. Lovely Hawaiian music, hula, delicious food and the warm spirit of aloha filled the hotel.

All who attended the blessing as well as the reception were also invited to take special tours of the beautiful new property.

61 years later, the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel is a landmark in Waikiki and a favorite vacation spot for many tourists visiting the island.

Throughout the years, the hotel and its wonderful associates have continued to welcome guests with aloha and a smile hoping to make each visitors experience truly memorable.

Mahalo to the hardworking, dedicated executive team as well as the amazing associates at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani for a successful 61 years and cheers to many more to come!
