Ho`ala” – A Hawaiian Ceremony of Renewal of Mind, Body, and Spirit
“Ho`ala” – a Hawaiian Ceremony of Renewal of Mind, Body, and Spirit will take place on the public beach fronting the Moana Surfrider in April (dates subject to change without notice):
4/1 – 6:00am
4/18 – 5:45am
4/22 – 5:30am
4/29 – 5:30am
Participation is open to the public and complimentary.
Ho`ala, the practice of getting into the correct mind-space, will begin with traditional Hawaiian chants as participants line up along the seashore.
At their own pace, participants are encouraged to wade into the ocean, in silence, immersing themselves in the calm morning water.
Again, at their own pace, participants return to the sand and join together welcoming the new day with a Hawaiian chant.
This experience is intended to cleanse body, mind and spirit – its goal is to help participants focus their mind towards a greater future.
With the dawning of the sun, accompanied by the Hawaiian chant, this ceremony will provide an opportunity to imbue your life with renewed vitality, hope and happiness.
“Having the opportunity to experience the ho’ala experience truly allowed me to begin my day fresh and new and leave the worries, cares and stress of yesterday behind so I can move forward unburdened.
We began with an understanding of the cultural significance, and then having the chance to be invigorated by the ocean and warmed by the rising sunrise is the new balanced breakfast for me!”
– Dave Williams, Complex Director of Rooms/Six Sigma
