At the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel, we’re extremely fortunate to have such an amazing team of associates.  No matter where you go throughout the property guests are greeted with a smile and a warm aloha! Our housekeeping team is truly at the heart of it all.  From surprising our guests with personalized welcome notes to leaving them gifts in their rooms when they are celebrating a special occasion they always go beyond when the opportunity arises.  Catherine Rodden in our housekeeping department is a prime example of an associate who goes beyond the call of duty each day for our guests.

“People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” – Maya Angelou.  Catherine lives up to this mantra.  From being honored as one of our Employees of the Quarter in 2017 to being nominated for the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association Housekeeper of the Yea, Catherine is a model associate who creates positive experiences that keep our guests returning.

Every year, Catherine’s service is requested by regular return guests to the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, Mr. and Mrs. Donahue. For the past six years, the elderly couple have visited Hawaii and stayed at the hotel, each time Catherine is there to make their stay extra special.  Over the year’s they’ve become good friends and they even keep in touch when they are away.  During each visit to Hawaii, Catherine helps to commemorate the Donahues’ birthdays and anniversaries by sending chocolates and flowers to keep the romance alive!

Our housekeeping team and our Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Ohana are lucky to have Catherine and appreciate all she does for our guests!  We hada chance to chat with Catherine and get her take on what it means to Go Beyond as well as a few recommendations for what to do while visiting Hawaii!

Q: What does it mean to Go Beyond?  A: Making the guest feel welcomed and doing everything you can to make their visit special.

Q: What’s your favorite thing to do on your day off? A: Spending time with my family and relaxing and cooking good food for them.

Q: What’s so special about the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel? A: At the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, we’re all a family and we all help each other and work together to make the hotel better for our guests.

Q: What do you love most about Waikiki?  A: Waikiki is the best because there’s always something to do.  Beach, shopping or eating out there are always so many wonderful choices!

Q: If you could go on a trip anywhere, where would you go? A: I hope to take my daughter to Disneyland for the first time soon!
