Moana Surfrider Serves as Backdrop for “Sunrise” on Hawaii News Now
With the landmark Banyan Tree in the background, Grace Lee, Dan Cooke and Howard Dicus and the “Sunrise” team chatted with General Manager Larry Hanson and Executive Chef Ryan Loo, who promoted the 7th Annual Mangoes at the Moana, which is coming up Saturday, July 18.
With Sesame Street Live in town, Elmo and Cookie Monster also stopped by the Moana Surfrider – and even said hello to Moana Lani Spa Director Travis Kono (left) and General Manager Larry Hanson.
Also appearing on “Sunrise” live from the Moana was renowned Hawaii artist Patrick Ching, who is enjoying a two-week guest appearance in the Moana Surfrider’s lobby, painting stunning seascapes and sealife.
He has begun painting 10 original oil paintings in the lobby of the Moana Surfrider. Ching’s appearance at the Moana is through a partnership between the hotel and Martin & MacArthur in a benefit for the Waikiki Aquarium.
Known for his stunning Hawaii landscape and wildlife paintings, Ching’s work is adored for capturing the beautiful, vivid colors of Hawaii’s flora and fauna. Martin & MacArthur features some of his acclaimed works.
Visitors to the event are encouraged to bid on the paintings as they are being created at the property.
Limited edition prints will be available for purchase at the Martin & MacArthur’s Moana Surfrider location.
Ching will be offering an art class Thursday, July 16th (2-4 p.m.) for $20 per person (Class limit of 10).
To make class reservations, e-mail Patrick Ching at firstname.lastname@example.org.
